VIDEO: Which Medicare Supplement Plan Should You Purchase?
So you have original Medicare, and you know you need to add a Medicare supplement plan, but you’re not sure which one to purchase.
Hi, I’m Evan Fein, Medicare specialist at Senior Reserve Group.
And I’m going to go over two great options for you for supplemental coverage to supplement your Medicare A and B.
The first plan – the most comprehensive plan, is the plan G, as in George.
This plan will cover all the Medicare out-of-pocket expenses except the Part B deductible, which is $227 in 2023.
After that, there’s no other co-pays or any other out-of-pocket expenses.
It’s a one time deductible.
Once it’s finished, you’re done for the year and you have no other out-of-pocket costs.
Another option is Medicare supplement plan N.
Plan N will have four out-of-pocket costs.
It will have the same part B deductible of $227.
It will have the $20 co-pays for office visits, $50 for the emergency room.
And in the rare case you do come across a doctor that charges an excess charge, you would have to pay that extra fee.
It is limited to 15% in most states and not allowed in New York and PA.
One other note I could say is that if you live in New York or Connecticut, these states do not allow underwriting to change your Medicare supplement plan.
So in that case, it may make sense to go with plan N over plan G, and then upgrade as your needs arise.
This way you can save the money in the premium.
